The main aim of this book is to provide a broad view of the issues surrounding literary tourism and to provide a theoretical and practical guide to how literary tourism is evolving and affecting the current Western tourism market. Its scope encompasses a wide array of narratives, ranging from the effects of the classic novel on destinations through to commercial book festivals and their power to attract tourists. The book consists of 16 chapters that cover theory, practical applications and case studies. The theory section encompasses theoretical aspects of different disciplines such as anthropology, politics and literature and illustrates how these can be found within literary tourism texts. The practical applications section has a number of narratives demonstrating the practical nature of literary tourism and how it, as a product, can be used to develop and extend a tourism destination. Finally, the case studies section examines specific examples of literary tourism and their relationship with destinations, with the aim of providing insights into successful literary destinations
